Q: I live just outside of Charlotte, NC. Is it too late to plant these this year? Planting later than our recommended planting date will produce nice size bulbs but not as large as what they would have been if you planted earlier. A rule of thumb is that for every two weeks you wait you get one less leaf and therefore one less ring. Each ring equates to about 1/4" so if you plant a month late then you will produce 1" smaller bulbs than the ideal size of 4".
