Q: Blush onions formed multiple (2 to 3) smaller bulbs rather than one bulb. Planted between Copra and Red River. Fertilized all the same. Copra and Red river were excellent. Planted 4/6 in Oglesby, IL. Junction of I80 and I39. Any idea what went wrong. Multiples or we call them doubles usually occur due to irregular weather patterns where one leaf comes out and another is formed before the previous leaf has an opportunity to complete its concentric ring. Reds are more prone to this.
