I have been growing Walla Walla onions in my small garden for about four years, about 60 plants, just north of Boston. The results have been fantastic! Large, juicy and sweet onions. In high demand from my friends and neighbors. Ideal for salads, soups and spaghetti sauce and my favorite a large slice on my cheese burger. Thanks, Dixon Dale Farms!

Wish I could give these a 10 star rating. They grow wonderfully for us in upstate NEW YORK ! but Dixondale’s LARGE starter plants surely are an advantage. We enjoy many 6 even 7-inch onions. Walla Wallas are THE absolutely sweetest onions we have ever eaten – sweet enough to eat out of hand, just like an apple. They do lose a little sweetness in storage, but are SWEETER than Vidalias with a wonderful pleasant taste/aftertaste. My only and sincere regret is that my Dad never got to try a Walla Walla sandwich – 1/2 inch slab on toast with mayo and lettuce – he loved onion sandwiches (I’m not sure why as in his day, most would have been way strong) but he was gone before we learned about Walla Wallas.

I was skeptical bc I’ve only ever done the regular sets and these were just like bundles of green onion starts, but they took off instantly!! I could have let them go longer to get bigger bulbs but I was impatient. DEFINITELY will only order these from now on, I lost almost none of them and they were fantastic!!

I’m in Ohio zone 5 and grew these onions and this year was my first time growing any type of onion that was the size of softballs or BIGGER!!! I am totally amazed at the size that they get and the flavor they produce! Anyone can grow these onions, even if you don’t know what you’re doing because I didn’t! I will definitely be growing these onions every year! They are a fantastic onion for soups and stews or even canning French onion soup.
