Description

Lancelot Leeks are great for soups, salads, and roasting. Each full bunch of leek plants contains a minimum of four dozen plants. Leeks are not day length sensitive. As long as you keep blanching them (throwing dirt up on the shaft), they will continue to grow. These long 12-14″ shafts are ideal for appearance and flavor. Leek plants are priced separately due to high production costs. Free growing guide included. Plant 4-5″ deep. Fertilize just like onions.

These were strong seedlings that grew to large size with good leek flavor. We had a 95% survival rate out of the bunch of leeks that we received. Very pleased with them.

  2. Barry Andreasen

planted in 2 spots with varying sunlight exposure. All did really well, though less sunlight area did not achieve same size as full. Didn’t count exact but suspect a similar survival rate (95%). Taste was excellent (made great leek soup and stock). Very pleased, ordering for next season.

  3. Laura

This will be our third year planting Dixondale leeks in Oklahoma. They are easy to grow and delicious! Small ones get thrown on the grill while the larger ones get turned into soup. We use alfalfa to mound up around them as they grow to maximize the white base. Keeps them upright and clean.

  4. Joshua Naterman

I bought these last year and they really did amazingly well in my garden despite minimal care and sitting in my office for about a week prior to planting!

I actually have about 30 plants in my garden that have regrown from the root-plates of the 120 plants from last year, they did die back during the winter but regrew outrageously well and are literally picture-perfect now!

I’m letting them flower so I can save seeds for next year, but I absolutely do recommend getting these leeks from Dixondale if you can’t or won’t start your own seeds!

  5. Ed Saugstad (verified owner)

Always do well here, and in spite of being advertised as slender, they will ‘size up’ given the opportunity.

  6. Lidia (verified owner)

I planted these in January of 2023. They grew beautifully, I think I may have only lost 2-3 and they were delicious but I will say they definitely took way longer than 75 days to mature for me. I have a few in the ground left but pulled the majority of them out today, June 15, 2023.
They will definitely be back in my yearly rotation.
