AS ALWAYS THESE DID WELL HERE IN COASTAL MASSACHUSETTS. I UNDERSTAND SOME OF YOUR SEED (TROPEA, CIPPOLINI) IS FROM FRANCHI THROUGH BILL MCKAY AT GROWITALIAN.COM. HE'S NEARBY AND I'VE GROWN HIS SEED HERE, TOO, WITH EXCELLENT RESULTS. HOWEVER, YOUR PLANTS ARE SO MUCH EASIER! THANKS FOR TAKING SOME OF THE WORK OUT OF THIS EFFORT! ACTUALLY RED BULL WAS VERY GOOD HERE, THOUGH A BIT SMALL SINCE IT DIDN'T GET THE MAX SUN AND SPACE TO GROW. IT'S A KEEPER HERE. I'LL CERTAINLY TRY RED ZEPPELIN NEXT. NOTE THAT THE CIPPOLINI MAKES EXCELLENT SCALLIONS UP NORTH THROUGH MAY OR EARLY JUNE. SINCE THIS ONION HAS A THIN SKIN, ITS EARLY SCALLIONS DON'T HAVE "PAPER" TO CONTEND WITH. ANOTHER NOTE: A FEW LEEKS FROM '06 CAME UP AGAIN IN '07. I DIDN'T DIG ALL OF THEM BACK THEN. WHAT FUN, THEY'RE HUGE! MANY THANKS!

Out of the many varieties I've tried from Dixondale this is by far the worst and a total waste of space. Red Bull did so well for me and only when assured by them this one was better did I try it. The only one where the bulbs never got as big a golf ball. Most of the other varieties made nice sized bulbs. Hopefully you will add another good red varieity. Because this one is a failure.

In 2008 we planted ten bundles of mixed varieties including sweet spanish, copra, big daddy, burgermaster and red zeppelin. These were the most amazing onions we have ever grown. Red zeppelins and burgermasters are the size of baseballs and softballs. They flourished and dried down beautifully and we are so pleased with all of them. We can't wait for next season to try some additional varieties. Thanks

I am in Northern NJ and had great success with these onions. Nice large bulbs. It is now November and they are storing well. I like them better than Red Bull.

We tried Red Zeppelin when we could not get Red Bull. It is still a good onion with excellent taste, but the size and storage qualities are not as good as Red Bull in my opinion. I'd love to be able to plant both in the same year to see how they compared.

This onion is by far the best tasting onion we grew last year. We planted these along with Mars to sell at the market. It is now the second week of January and we are still selling these. The Mars stored alright but the Red Zepplin kept their flavor much better. They are still just as good now as they were when we pulled them fresh. We will be planting these again for certain

Have been gardening for 20years. Have tried plants, sets, and seeds. Eight years ago I found Dixondale. The plants are allways the best, and the helpful hints via newsletter are allways welcom. BEST OF ALL THE ONIONS (SWEET 10, COPRA) grown in my garden keep the neighbors, and my family well supplied. Last, the service and prices are great. Thanks from Iowa.

I have purchased plants from Dixondale for years. They are always excellant quality! Farming on the northern border of PA we purchase long day, long storage varietys. Our harvest of copra and 1st edition last until the next harvest. Growing red zeppelin last year,they did well with the majority sizing at about 3". As it is late Feb. we are still using red zep with only a few bulbs sprouting! Thus said we still prefer Red Bull! It is better flavor and doesn't double bulb within. How about a choice? An added note, has health difficulties with store bought onions but none with those grown from your plants! We use alot of onions!
