The better quality of your Tropea Torpedo Onions in 2008 became the most popular onion I offered for sale at the Watertown Farmers Market last summer. I sold out well before the season ended. Some onions grew to a far larger size than in previous years - some reached a length of over 7". Wonderful variety. I plan to at least double my planting of this one in 2009.

Grown in northcentral PA. This is a really great cooking onion, but plants are variable year to year. Great onion in 2006; crop failure in 2007; grew very well in 2008 but many subdivisions within each bulb. Start eating early, they do not store past Christmas.

Tried torpedo for 1st time. Difficult growing year for many things in eastern MA. Torpedo was a good, moderate size (4-in long; 1.2-in dia) with few runts. Don't really like the thick necks which are persisting after harvest.

My husband's family is from southern Italy, and they grow this onion there. We have had excellent success growing them, and loving sharing them with friends.
