Let them cure properly to have exception red rings that will look great on salads. This is the sweetest red onion available for short day areas. We improved this variety to keep it from bolting and having more disease resistance. This is the best short day red onion variety available.

I was having trouble with them bolting also, I contacted Dixondale and was advised to plant a month earlier than I usually do. This year not one bolted, got 5"+ onions, best red onion I have ever ate!!!

About 40% of my southern belles threw tops this year vs. almost none for the Contessas or Texas SS. They seem to throw more every year .
